The 2019 home trends according to Pinterest

Pinterest is the very famous social network launched in 2010 (used by more than 250 million people in the world) that allows you to share and save images creating personal and thematic folders of pictures. Very used by interior designers to find inspirations and create moodboards for the customers!

At the end of each year, Pinterest publishes a report about the 100 new year trends (divided into various categories like home, fashion, beauty etc.) based on the data of the images that users have published, shared and saved…and the results are very interesting!

I have selected for you the trends related to the house that most impressed me.

1. MUSTARD YELLOW: the mustard yellow seems to be, according to Pinterest, the color of the year. Warmer and softer than bright yellow, it goes perfectly with many styles, in particular with the vintage style that is so trendy lately (Searches for mustard yellow +45%)

2. CONTEMPORARY FIREPLACE: people seem to be more and more interested in fireplaces, both indoor and outdoor, but better if with a modern and sleek look (Searches contemporary fireplace +763%)

3. TEXTILE ART: a trend that we have already seen growing in 2018 is the one of textile art used as decorations for walls, from rugs hung on the wall to real pieces of textile art … a great way to warm up the environment and make it cozy (Searches for textile art +1718%)

6. CACTUS: I thought that cactus and succulents were going out of fashion in favor of dry flowers and dry branches (like the pampas grass that we now see in all the styling) but Pinterest contradicts me (Searches for cactus arrangements +235%)

  1. Hi Mariana,

as a interior & furniture designer I love your posts which are just to the point while really inspiring. Thanks for that. My interior trend is yellow and Memphis like strong geometric shapes especially the tongue shape which I see everywhere. Of course you see it at every ancient Italian piazza where a lot of old marble benches have that half circle ending.

    • Hi Boris,
thank you very much! I am really happy you like my articles. I agree that yellow is a big trend this year (especially mustard yellow) and the Memphis style is coming back strong this is and I am very happy about it (I am such a fun of Ettore Sottsass’s work). Ciao
