SHOPPING GUIDE: 16 DESIGN STORES IN MILAN

Milan is without a doubt the world capital of design and it is certainly an unmissable destination for shopping enthusiasts.

Leaving aside the names of the great Italian brands, of which all showrooms are located in Milan, today I want to focus on my favorite multi-brand stores. My selection includes both the classic multi-brand shops, where you can find furnishings and accessories from well-known brands, but also galleries where instead you can find unique and refined pieces.

1 – CARGO & HI-TECH

With two locations, this is one of the most popular design stores in Milan. Both stores are large and well-stocked, it is impossible to get out empty-handed. They sell from furniture, especially in industrial style, to lighting; from home textiles to stationery, from kitchen tools to table decoration, from objects to hi-tech. And there is also an area dedicated to bathroom accessories, another to house organization and there is also a small section dedicated to clothing.

2 – DESIGN SUPERMARKET – LA RINASCENTE

La Rinascente was the first department storeopened in Italy and it is still a true institution for the Milanese. Located next to the Duomo of Milan, on the -1 floor we find its Design Supermarket. Here you can buy the iconic creations of Italian and foreign brands (Kartell, Vitra, Alessi, Seletti, Normann Copenhagen etc.) but also the creations of emerging talents selected from the most interesting names on the contemporary design scene.

This delightful shop is an eclectic and original collection of objects carefully selected by Paolo Badesco. A “cabinet of curiositiés” full of decorations, display cases, bird cages, tables, plates, glasses, scented candles and cushions. The setting changes cyclically so you have to go back often, especially before Christmas.

A small gem in the 5 Vie area. Here you will find objects for the home with an eclectic and imaginative style, the result of Mariangela and Titti Negroni’s continuous research of objects from Italy and abroad. Mixing different objects, emphasizing the singularity of each object, is their philosophy.

Funky Table is a paradise for lovers of home decor and in particular for fans of unconventional mise en place.
