As usual, the color of the year for interiors according to Flexa is revealed at the end of September, a color chosen by AkzoNobel’s Global Aesthetic Center, a group of industry experts, architects and interior designers who meet every year to define the industry trends.
Drum rolls…the color of the year 2019 for the interiors is SPICED HONEY.
Spiced Honey was chosen by Dulux as a color of 2019 because it is a versatile shade, rich in warm and enveloping tones, with amber and caramel tips. Depending on the light and color combinations, the color can be very calming and relaxing or, on the contrary, create an energetic and sparkling atmosphere. Just like honey, which has both calming and nourishing properties and energizing and regenerating effects: just the kind of sensations we usually seek inside our home.
The motto that lead to this choice is LET THE LIGHT IN to underline the shared need to rediscover optimism and a new energy. Our home is where we can find optimism because it is the place where we can think, dream, love and act.
For each of this action, they created a palette of colors to combine with Spiced Honey.
A PLACE TO THINK
Home is where we can truly feel free to think and clarify our ideas. The palette plays with natural tones, adding pink, burgundy and blue touches here and there
A PLACE TO DREAM
The house is the place where we can be free to dream and fantasize. The palette wants to express tranquility with a romantic mix of pink and blue.
A PLACE TO LOVE
Our home is the place where our loved ones are and this palette wants to express the intensity of this feeling thanks to rich hues such as green or terracotta
A PLACE TO ACT
A palette full of bright colors that really wants to infuse energy and courage and bring us to move, to take important actions and finally realize our dreams.
The choice of this color is in line with the color trends of the last year in which we have seen a lot of warm colors and color of the earth like terracotta or green.
For the moment, this color does not convince me but I imagine that, as always, it’s just a matter of time. I do not like Spiced Honey as color on the walls but instead I do not mind it in furnishings, I admit I may like a velvet armchair of this color, it has a vintage allure that I could like at the end.
The four palettes identified by Dulux are very beautiful and are also very interesting mixes that I might never have thought of. But I prefer it simply combined with white and wooden accessories (as in the first pictures), it is the easiest combination but the one with the most elegant and cozy result in my opinion.
And which is your favorite palette?
