Hello everyone! For today’s post, I’ve prepared a selection of 10 chairs for you.
They are, of course, design chairs, but they also have another plus … they are made of recycled plastic and therefore sustainable for our planet!
Sustainability is one of the most critical issues right now. Climate change, global warming, dwindling resources and the constant growth of the world population have now made it clear that we need to live a more sustainable life. Even designers and companies are becoming more sensitive to the issue of sustainability; there are many new projects or prototypes: new materials made with organic sources such as food waste and with renewable sources – new biodegradable materials – furniture and objects made with recycled and recyclable materials – furniture and objects made with waste materials (e.g., marble processing powders – electronic products), etc.
We can choose to be sustainable even at home by selecting furnishings or accessories made with natural or recycled (and recyclable) materials. Therefore, for this post, I have chosen ten chairs of well-known design brands, aesthetically beautiful, solid, and functional but – above all – made of recycled plastic. In this list, you also find two options of children chairs 🙂
1. MAGIS – BELL CHAIR (designed by Konstantin Grcic)
Made from recycled polypropylene obtained from the waste generated by Magis’ own furniture production and from that of the local car industry. The patented material excludes almost all “virgin or new” materials and can be recycled again 100% after use.

2. HAY – REVOLT OCEAN (originally created by Friso Kramer in the 1950s)
Reproduced today using the same process, the chair retains the functionality and resilient construction of its mid-century precursor, but in a sustainable material choice comprising a mix of recycled post-consumer and virgin ABS material in different colour options.

The SSDr chair is SIMPLE, STRONG, DURABLE and RECYCLED. SSDr is RECYCLED : the backrest and seat of the SSDr chair are made from recycled PP plastic. PP or polypropylene is a widely-used type of plastic that can be found in food containers, household appliances, automotive parts and more.

5. FERM LIVING – DESERT LOUNGE CHAIR
A modernist chair with a graceful profile, the Desert Lounge Chair is crafted from a tubular powder coated steel frame, holding an interchangeable woven textile seat made entirely from recycled post-consumer plastic that has been spun into PET yarn.
