La vie en Rose

La Vie en rose seems to be the trend of recent years for interior and furniture, especially among Nordic companies such as Ferm Living, Muuto, Normann Copenhagen and Hay.

But do not think about the Barbie pink or confetti pink… what I’m talking about is a pale pink, dusty, desaturated. There are so many shades of this pink, some tend to gray, others come close to the terracotta and the browns….they are all beautiful shades that make the interior sober, cozy and sophisticated, feminine but not too much.

The trend began when Pantone launched the Rose Quartz as the color of the year 2016, a pastel pink that was later transformed into the most current Millenial Pink. The trend seems to continue next year as Dulux has chosen HeartWood as the color for the interior of 2018, a rose closed to the colors of the wood, an almost mauve rose that I’ll soon talk about on the blog.

But how to use this pink in the interior and how to match it?

I really like the idea of matching pink walls to wood and pink copper details, as in these two images.

Or simply you can mix it with white or light gray for a fresh but always chic result.

I love it also matched with anthracite gray or black, I like the contrast that is created between a soft color like pink and a strong color, I like the graphic effect of the contrast.

If you do not like the idea of painting a wall in pink, you can always introduce a touch of pink through small furnishings and accessories such as this beautiful Muuto chair or these Ferm Living accessories.

I like very much how Ferm Living used the pink in the new collection, a slightly darker pink that tends to warm terracotta or burgundy.

If the pink convinces you, you’ll be happy because the section “get the look” is back and this month the theme is of course La vie en rose. I preferred to use the pink on the wall, creating a contrast with the black table and chairs and the black and white lamps. I then added some color touches with the carpet and still use pink in the reading corner with the armchair. You like it? I know, the room divider is a bit exaggerated, but I like it so much and I couldn’t resist!!
