Milan Design Week 2021: must see (part 2)

In this second part of the guide I am only talking about the BRERA district because there are too many showrooms and exhibitions!

LA Brera Design Week 2021 quest’anno promuove il tema “Forme dell’Abitare” proposto da Fuorisalone.it, un’occasione di riflessione sulle rinnovate esigenze abitative e sugli spazi domestici, diretta conseguenza della pandemia. 

Oltre agli eventi che vi segnalo qua sotto, a Brera saranno anche aperti tanti showroom come quelli di Zanotta, di Tecno, di Moroso, di Boffi, di Society Limonta…un’occasione per andare a vedere tutte le novità!

1. Abitare l’innovazione: the spaces of the Brera Design Apartment welcome the project created by Xiaomi which intends to investigate innovation as an integral, almost invisible, part of our daily life

2USM x Monocle Inside the Rossignoli bike shop, an exhibition of the Swiss company USM, specialized in modular furniture systems, and of the international media brand Monocle promotes a green agenda with a completely “green” setting. Two new Rossignoli bicycles are also presented, born from the collaboration between the two brands.

3DESIGN PARK 21 00. In the setting of the Cloister of Santa Maria del Carmine, a countdown towards 2100 is staged. Four Emilian companies bring a reflection on the future on stage: for this date the projections paint a scenario of strong stress in the terrestrial biosphere. Rising seas, aridity and crusty soils. “Most of us realize it only now, in full alarm, going from total emptiness to sudden consciousness.”

4 – dOT – design Outdoor Taste the Piazza and Cloister of the Church of San Marco will be transformed into a green oasis with a maxi-set set up surrounded by luxuriant nature. Leading outdoor design brands compose refined outdoor settings interpreting the theme of travel through different settings and atmospheres, from beaches to country chic corners

5 – MANERBA – Wherever you Feel Design solutions that meet the new needs of co-living and co-creation in three types of spaces: home-office, office as a hub, meeting & lounge. Projects by Federica Biasi, Philippe Nigro, Busetti Garuti Redaelli and Shane Schneck. Installation: Federica Biasi studio

6 – Dieffebi – From Office to Lifestyle Dieffebi also presents the novelties for a hybrid space between home and office. The set-up is by Elisa Ossino so definitely not to be missed!

7 – MARSOTTO EDIZIONI presents: “Collectible Marble”The set-ups of the Marsotto showroom are always incredible and the space is worth a visit!

8 – Dimoregallery – “Past Present Future”. Another unmissable location is the Dimore Gallery apartment. The installation is titled Past Present Future: Past, a museum-style exhibition that aims to be a celebration of Italian Rationalism, Present that returns a new vision of interiors by Dimoremilano, a brand of furniture, fabrics and accessories, and Future dedicated to Claudio Salocchi, protagonist of the creative ferment of the Sixties and Seventies.

9 – I‘LL BE YOUR MIRRORThe H + O showroom / apartment founded by Josephine Akvama Hoffmeyer and Elisa Ossino is located in the same building on the 3rd floor. The setting created by Elisa Ossino Studio is dedicated to the mirror, with a selection of objects and furniture dedicated to this object. An artistic installation by Roberta Savelli adds a suspenseful atmosphere to the space.

10 – Casa Canvas: It is a new hospitality project co-created by Canvas Milano and Bespoken Guides that is presented during this Fuorisalone 2021. The space is located in Via Solferino, in the heart of the Brera Design District, in a seventeenth-century building in typical Milanese style. One hundred and thirty square meters will host the Canvas Milano residence and the new creative headquarters of Casa Canvas. Its interior spaces, which include the master suite, a large living room and an eclectic kitchen that connects to a splendid bohemian terrace, will be open to visits during the Milan Design Week by appointment.

11 –NATURAL CAPITALThanks to Interni, Natural Capital at the Brera Botanical Garden is an installation by Carlo Ratti for Eni on the symbiotic relationship between plants and the environment, production of oxygen and consumption of Co2.

12 – Casa Mutina Milano. The Luigi Ghirri – Between the Lines exhibition project dialogues with the new ceramic display of the Din collection designed by Konstantin Grcic. A must see.

13 – Lumina Naturae. the glass installation Lumina Naturae by Marc Sadler marks the debut of Gritti, the new brand of the Venetian company Sylcom.

14 – Wandering Colors. an installation by Baolab with ET.AL to celebrate 170 years of GABRIEL

15 – BEYOND MERE BEAUTY – SUSTAINABILITY FROM THE SEASustainable rugs are made with a polyester yarn made from recycled plastic waste caught in the seas. Another interesting sustainability project

16 – Craftsmanship heritage – Italian and Swedish design through the ages. Kasthall presents an unprecedented display inside the Flagship Store in Milan that transports visitors on a journey through the history of design, between Sweden and Italy. Stefano Gaggero’s new setting takes us on a journey to discover the brand’s most iconic rugs from the 1950s to the 1980s, combined with refined icons of Italian design.

17 – “Materiorama” Constance Guisset per FENIX ScenarioMateriorama is a journey of eight sensory experiences designed by Constance Guisset that unfold in the spaces of FENIX Scenario. The installation celebrates the system of materials and color palettes of the group’s brands

18- Elena Salmistraro per CEDIT. A ceramic work of art of almost 12 square meters composed of 80 unique pieces signed by hand, one by one, by the Milanese designer Elena Salmistraro who reinterpret the illustration created last year for the homonymous exhibition dedicated to the launch of the collection “ Chimera”.

19 – “SuperSuperfici! The spirit of Memphis – reloaded”Abet Laminati presents the exhibition “SuperSuperfici! The spirit of Memphis – reloaded” at the ADI Design Museum for the Milan Design Week. The main theme of the project – conceived by Giulio Iacchetti and Matteo Ragni – is to rediscover the meaning of being radical today.
